So far this was turning into the perfect Thanksgiving. Everything was ideal, and almost picturesque as the members of SG-1, past and present, sat around the giant table. It was all going according to plan when a quiet, suspicious voice piped up with the question that was on everyone’s lips, "So, where is the turkey?"
They all found themselves turning towards the source, Jack O'Neill, before looking back at the table. Everything was there except the main dish. Jack raised his eyebrow and looked over at Sam, "Well?"
"It should be there..." Sam started, narrowing her eyes as her mind raced. This was the first time since Jack had left the SGC, and they had tentatively begun some kind of relationship, where they found themselves being hosts to an event such as this.
"Yet it is not," Teal'c stated.
Jack slowly turned to him, "Yeah, that's what I thought." After a pause, he added, "D'oh!"
Sam eyed the members of her team with suspicion. Her gaze rested on Vala Mal Doran, who shrugged. Standing up, she decided that it would be best to try to track down the missing poultry. When she reached the oven, she found herself letting out a gasp from the surprise of her discovery -- it wasn't there. Huh?
She walked back out to the dining table and looked directly at Jack, her face a mixture of confusion and annoyance. "What?" he asked.
"Uh, it's missing, sir," she replied, slipping up with the way she addressed him. It was hard to break a habit of any kind.
"Missing? How can it be missing?" Daniel frowned, looking around the room as if it would appear by magic.
"It was dead, right?" Jack asked, sarcastically. "Because unless it was able to use its legs, I doubt it walked outta here."
Sam frowned. She wasn't sure of anything right now, because she knew it should've been on that table. The worst kind of mystery because this would leave them hungry.
...meanwhile, the crew of the Odyssey were filling their stomachs with delicious turkey that was perfectly cooked.
"Where did you find this, Lieutenant?" the commander asked, unable to stop himself from taking another bite.
"I'd rather not say, sir," the young man replied, helping himself to more.
